Unless you pay for your phone...and if/when you do you're rewarded with a lower bill. Real sneaky of them.

What do you expect them to do, tell people they can take a $400 phone and run away without paying for it?

To some extent I'd guess it's the convenience of not having to wait for shipping, but sadly, for most, it's probably lack of knowledge. Saving $100 is well worth waiting 3 days or whatever shipping time is. I doubt many people would pay an extra 100 if they actually knew.

Not saying I even agree with what I am saying, because I wouldn't do it. But there are those who cannot come up with the full cost of the N5, and could afford to pay it over 22 months. So for them it works, and even at the inflated price, its a damned good phone that can easily stand up to similar devices which would cost more.

I did buy a N5 outright, and the charges after shipping and handling for the Nexus 5 32gb all black (the white one looks like a zebra with genetic mutations). And the price came to $437.62.

Yeah, I can't believe anyone here is missing the whole 2-year loan aspect. It's about as bad as having a typical credit card. If you don't like it, go buy one for full price up front.
