Re: The point everyone seems to be missing
1) Linux (traditional builds such as Ubuntu, etc.) has practically no consumer desktop adoption. (Rightly so, desktop Linux has not kept pace with OSX and Windows.) Its penetration is limited to server applications. And it's actually not that fragmented where it's used most - the LAMP configuration.
2) OSX's market share is not iOS's market share. If you're going to group them together, Apple is the largest computer manufacturer. (See http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2012/01/13/snapsh ot-of-computer-market-with-and-without-the-ip ad/ ) .
3) You realize Google is so upset by Android fragmentation that Google now injects their own updates directly onto devices through the play services bundle. Essentially, Google's own native Android apps (Maps, Play Music, hangouts, etc.) play by their own rules.
