Although its pretty sad that an educational company is targeting kids and parents in this way, it may actually pay off really well. I wonder who's network they'r using, hopefull cingular so they've got good coverage but i wouldn't be surprised if it were cheapo tmobile

The Magical LeapFrog Network is what they shall use. It spans across the entire U.S.A and is powered by love 🙂

Isn't it sad that we live in a free country where we have to buy everything that is targeted at us? lol 😁 😁 😁

I mean seriously, what's so anti-educational about little kids being able to talk to their parents when they're away?

ya, it is nice that we can buy what we want, but is an educational company meeting its purpose by selling cell phones to kids. I doubt very highly that the purpose of these phones is to educate and enlighten ten year olds. maybe they'll pass it off as education in financial management. because we all know that preteens are masters of self control.

Educational or not, there was an available place for this type of device on the market. I'd rather have a family and educational oriented company developing these for children rather than Sony or Nintendo. Leap' has the resources to create the device so I applaud them for accepting the challenge to create the device.

Also, I'd like to point out there is very little talk of the quality of this device. The focus it seems on the ethics of the devices creation. Face it, the device was going to be created and, ethics and values are not universal. Leap' seems to have included the right package of features into it's little device. I'd be proud to gift one to my niece.

No, this is America. We like to minimize contact between parents and their children by working more hours and putting the children in daycare. When teenagers have no respect for thier parents, why do we wonder?

At $25 for 100 minutes, you can bet your life it'll be profitable.

Lets be realistic, how many kids do you know that will actually call their mom and dad on a regular basis? in reality this phone will either be used to call friends and minutes will go by like nothing, because kids have no sense of cost. or, they will end up in the teachers desk at school because they pull them out in class.

I'm saying if a parent gives it to there child to use in case of emergencys not to call them on a regular basis and if there son or daughter uses to minutes on something else then there parents just take it away and its only 100 minutes what can you do with that?

I don't think your kidnapper is going to take pause and let you dial up mom and dad.

But the kidnapper probably won't check everything to see if she had a mobile phone, either. Many children are smarter than you think.
