In WM5 if you click on the up arrow next to the keyboard symbol at the bottom in the compose msg screen a list pops up showing different txt entry options available besides using a mini touch keyboard.

For one handed txting on my xv6700 without the stylus or slide out keyboard I tap on the arrow next to the keyboard symbol then choose phone pad. This phone pad beasically brings up a phone pad where i can use t9 like i would on a non pda phone.

Is this option available on wm6?

I wondered the same thing when I saw that you can use the touch phone pad on the Prada to text. BUT THE ANSWER IS YES. The Network Administrator on my job put WM6 on his 8125 and he showed me that from the keyboard options, there is an option for Phone Pad. He showed me that he could use the Phone Pad to enter text in a new note.

In ddition, there's a video on YouTube that shows alternate methods for text input on the HTC Touch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMJB3AL7OnU

I believe they are both 3rd party apps. Anyway, I've seen quite a few videos and reviews of the phone and the only method of text inout that gets any attention is the onscreen "small keyboard". Tsk tsk tsk.

I wonder if the Phone Pad was removed from the Touch... ☹️ From a review posted today...

That HTC neglected to integrate a T9 based on-screen text input system into the Touch is simply baffling. HTC's own Phone Pad application, offered on some Dopod Pocket PC devices in the past, works very well with the Touch (if you can find a copy). Somebody at HTC appears to have dropped the ball here...

In short, I can't put it any simpler than this: I have been using the HTC Touch day in and day out for a week plus and I have barely used the stylus at all. Of course I've been using Phone Pad for text input, something that is not standard on the Touch, but I'd still call that a win for HTC.
