Why Limit To Phones?

What's so special about phones when compared to other stolen merchandise? In fact, it's easier to disable a stolen phone than a stolen television.

This is just another case of dumb politicians wanting a good sound bite. Who still has their receipt from the phone they bought 2 or 3 years ago? I agree if that is the law it should be for all items bought used for resale.

My wife would have the receipt for hers. I wouldn't for mine. She keeps everything, but then, again, she's the type to buy 5 items and then return 4 of them. I avoid returns/exchanges like the plague.

However, my real point is that cell phones are the one item that can actually be made unusable if lost or stolen. Most other items can't, so why focus on phones.
