seem like a great idea from a sales perspective it's also yet another way companies can access your information. The whole point of creating an anonymous user ID and secure password is to prevent anyone from accessing your information. Would you be as trusting if Motorola was asking for your debit card PIN? Probably not. So why trust them with access to an account that might be linked to that same debit card for iTunes and App Store purchases? Also don't forget, Motorola is owned by Google. And we all know some of the things Google does with personal information.

...we also know some of the things that Apple does with personal information; giving it to anyone, regardless of your allegiance to one smartphone manufacturer or another, is risky business.

the only additiional risk you're taking on by doing this would be the fact that now TWO companies have your data instead of one. with that being said, you were probably going to enter that information into your new phone anyways -- along with your debit or card card for whichever app store -- right?
