LTE model question...

For anyone savvy in this area of tech...
For the Xperia Z Ultra - what's the purpose of an LTE only model? Does this mean it can be purchased and programmed for a CDMA carrier like Verizon or Sprint? If so, I assume this would mean it would only function (for voice? data?) when in a 4G area, is that right? Only other option would be wi-fi for data?
I'm not sure if my assumptions are correct, but whether yes or no...are there any other Pros/Cons to this LTE only type device?

Thanks in advance! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Sony only makes GSM devices at this time. The LTE Xperia Z1's are rumored to be sold through T-Mobile only @ this time.

I see.

Doesn't T-Mo offer HSPA+ as well?

Interesting.

So, the purpose of 2 different units is so that one can be purchased and used with AT&T, instead of T-Mo?

Thanks for the info BTW! ๐Ÿ˜

Yes, they are 2 diffrent units. The Unlocked version will only have HSPA (3G) The LTE(4G) version will be locked to T-mobile. This is the same with the Xperia Z. Unlocked (3G) HSPA. LTE Version (4G) 0n T-mobile.

One otherthing I forgot to mention. Sony also has the Xperia ZL. Its oretty much the same phone as the Xperia Z, but it has LTE (4G) & is unlocked. You might want to look at the Xperia Line on the Sony Web site, so you can compare & see what options you like. You can also visit a Sony store to try them out. (If there is a store in your area.)
