Most of us can reasonably agree that most of the telecommunication laws are archaic and should be re-evaluated and updated. However, one thing that should not be tampered with, is the importance of being able to have access to ALL internet material and subjects administered through publically funded ownership of given broadband airwaves. The FCC has clearly made point of carriers being able to exersize their rights to protect their networks through these rules if needed. However, it appears VZW wants to control more than just reasonable protection. More over restricting its customers from free material that is deemed accessible for all.

In order to protect the public's freedom to access any given info through the internet, VZW should not ...

If that were true, then Congress needs to either pass the law itself or pass a law giving the FCC the authority to regulate the Internet.

What is absolutely unacceptable is for the FCC to simply declare that it does have such authority because it wants to have such authority and it is just going to give itself authority that it doesn't have,

And that is what the issue of this lawsuit is, not whether net neutrality is good or bad, but whether the FCC can grant itself powers out of nowhere without statutory authority from Congress.

I agree with you that the FCC shouldn't be allowed to step outside its legal bounds. But lets not pretend that the government as a whole doesn't do this on a regular basis. The Supreme Court legislates from the bench (gay marriage, imminent domain). The President rules on Constitutional matters (illegal immigration, drugs, assassination of American citizens). Congressmen just use their power to waste tax dollars and make themselves rich (too many cases to cite). If someone is stepping outside the bounds of their power, I'm just glad it's in favor of the general public for once.

Verizon is up to no good. The FCC has specific guidelines that include the protection of security and broadband owners plus other points of interest. While the FCC may appear to be stepping out of the boundaries of jurisdiction, The Government should be very attentive to the FCC's move before taking VZW's side. To eliminate oversight by the FCC or the FCC entirely, is exactly what VZW would like. Who else is better positioned to protect the wireless consumers than the FCC?

Right or wrong doing on the part of the FCC, issues no change on my opinion. Verizon should not be allowed to win this fight.
