Samsung cut out way too much to meet the $149.99 w/ contract price.

Their target market, as it's been said "consumers who want a phablet without the $299.99 price of admission." This market does not exist!

The Note II is more powerful, better resolution, handy stylus with air view, enough processing power to get out of the way of its own shadow and if you do your homework can be purchased NEW from indirect channels may be for the SAME $149.99 "sweet spot" (maybe even less once the Note III drops)

May I add "mid-line" Samsung smartphones are lackluster, buggy, and fail to meet expectations. Just make you feel bad that you didn't ante upthe difference. Its almost like they cantracted the prodution of their mid line to either ZTE or Kyrocera...

Im not a phone "snob", just a consumer who sees and realizes that no matter what you will still pay your carrier the SAME bill each month for the SAME 24 months and if you breach the contract you will be charged the SAME ETF. So even IF the difference between the phone you really want and the phone youll settle for is $149.99, for a 24 month contract thats ONLY a difference of $6.25 monthly and my friend that is a small price to pay for a device that will fail you, steal your free time by constantly having you goto your carriers service and repair center only to be heckled by some smug punk with a screw driver, condescending one liners, excuses as to why you dont qualify for a model exchage despite more than a half dozen replacements, and all along Iignoring you while he distracted to no end as his real concern is if the cute little red head that just got hired for sales has a boyfriend or not....

Smartphones are apart of our daily lives. I know several people that if they left their phone without their wallet would simply keep driving to work but if it was their PHONE they would risk making themselves LATE for work and an auto accident to retrieve their device even if their work had a strict NO CELL PHONE POLICY... Yes, we all know they are THAT important too.. So why would one cheap out and subject themselves to an inferior device? Friends dont let friends buy the cheap or free phone.

The market for the MEGA simply is NOT there.
