This has to be the most absurd lawsuit I have ever read. o.O
I have a lawsuit of my own. I would like to sue everyone who gets the same hair cut as me. I have been using this hair cut since 94 on the grounds that it may create initial interest and confusion with others.

No, it isn't. Trademarks are extremely important and the law says that if you don't defend your trademark when it is infringed you lose it. T-Mobile's only options are file a lawsuit or lose its trademark. at&t will flinch, they will come to a deal and the matter will be quickly settled. But when it comes to protecting you have to act against even minor infringements or risk losing the trademark forever.

Based on my observations, the colors aren't really all that similar. T-Mobile's so-called magenta is more pink, while Aio's color is more purple.

I think this is a bad lawsuit. I understand defending their trademark, but at&ts aio brand seems to be a distinct different shade of purple than t-mobiles. But I do have to ask at&t, what's wrong with orange?

Orange and blue are the at&t colors, Aio is a different branding, they don't want people to think 'at&t'.....kind of like how Virgin Mobile doesn't advertise its connection to Sprint.
But as far as the differences between the colors, there's an element of subjectivity there, how close you can get to a trademark before it becomes infringement. It won't come to the court because they will reach a settlement, but one can never predict how the courts will rule on something like this.
