Trading features for size should always be a no-no. When will this ultra-stupid fascination with super thin phones end? Give me a few extra millimeters of thickness, a battery, a sd card slot, and a physical keyboard. I won't mind wrapping my hands around its thickness if those things are present.

Dewalt makes a portable impact wrench. Guess what, it's almost entirely made of plastic with very few metal parts. But nobody complains that it's bulky or lacks some nonsensical premium build quality. Why? Because it does what it's supposed to do. If it were held to today's smartphone standards, you'd have a tiny, sleek, super cool looking piece of **** that was completely useless.

If we can understand that the extra size is necessary for this particular portable device to be useful, why can't we accept some extra size that would make smart phones... well smarter? It seems like a no-brainer to me. But as smartphone manufacturers clamor to compete for the artsy-fartsy thinness crown, it looks like I'm left with the only manufacturer who cares about the performance and utility crown - Samsung.
