I have never, ever, not even for the first charge, ever used an "apple" branded adaptor for my ipod. Never. I can tell you - I have not been injured.

Of course that was their conclusion. Better to be safe and pay Apple two or three times as much than to be the one out of every three million people who winds up being sorry.

But they're offering to cover half the cost to get an authentic charger to avoid this issue completely. All cell phone manufacturer accessories cost about the same by the way, it's not just Apple that's guilty of this.

$35 -$40 for a wall charger. On par with what Apple charges.

Yea, but the customer has already paid once for the generic adapter which they must surrender in order to get Apple's discount. So, they're paying an extra $10 to still just have one adapter. I suppose if I could get them wholesale for a buck or two, then I could trade them in to Apple for a $10 discount on the Apple product. But if I was getting them that cheap... why would I bother? On the surface it looks like Apple's being nice... but when you actually think about it all they're doing is shaving their profit margins a little in order to ostracize third party vendors and keep a stranglehold on their customers. And that is the genius of Apple marketing.

Apple pretty much always blames all the failures they possibly can on 'third party' software and peripherals.....

I've stopped buying going to Apple for tech support, because I've found that if I ever actually need assistance, the only thing Apple ever does it look at your device long enough to find the one piece of non Apple hardware or non Apple software you are using, and then blame everything on that one thing.....so if I'm having problems with my Macbook they will look at it just long enough to say 'ah I see the problem, you're running Microsoft Office instead of iWork, that's wh...
