Siemens has always manufactured very polished, very well designed handsets. The problem is, nobody noticed in North America. So while companies like LG and Samsung are living high off the hog in the States, Siemens was forced to sell it's mobile division to BenQ (which absolutely horrifies me...BenQ produces nothing but pure unadulterated crap). I'll miss Siemens. The REAL Siemens.

Yeah a lot of phones like the s56 and the sl56 and other siemens phones look rather cheap, but are actually very well made, the speakers are some of the best that I have ever used and the phones are very solid and reliable, seimens just didn't market their handsets as well in the Americas, they do have a large presence though since they supply a lot of the backend network equipment and such.

I never used a Siemens phone before, but I was under the impression their interfaces sucked. That's not the case?

I never had a problem with their GUI. You have to get used to it just like any other interface. Now Sony-Ericsson...there's a GUI that'll drive you insane.

Actually I enjoyed SE's interface on my T616. Probably one of the best phones I've used.

Right now I'm in a contract with a V551 and I'm not that pleased with it. Ah well.

I had an S56 a few years back, which worked really well except the screen wasn't the best, and the bluetooth was very hard to configure.

Right now I'm absolutely thrilled to hear about the S75, and as long as issues like the bluetooth have been fixed since the S56, I'm sure this will be my next phone, once my contract runs out on the V551 in November.
