What if Motorola switched to a format like Dell or HP where you could get on the website and custom build a phone to your liking? I think they would kill the market.

What if Motorola marketed some generic catchall phone, based off of a bunch of meaningless surveys, that tried to do everything but did nothing well, as a phone "Designed by you ?" I think it would flop.

Motorola Razr HD Maxx, Motorola Razr HD, are top rated phones with Verizon and they do EXACTLY what they are supposed to do. They were rated #1 and #2 on Consumer Reports mostly for their extra long battery life and durability. Motorola was simply not as "flashy" as Apple or Samsung about their marketing. They beat out the Samsung S3 at #3 and their Motorola Razr M is also a top 5. (No, iPhone did not make top 5.) Motorola hasn't released many other phones on other carriers for a while. What I've read before this is that whatever it is it's gonna be a great phone and be solid quality with a killer battery (probably the best ever in a phone.) It's the first official collaboration between Google and Motorola and I'm sure together they wont rel...

I dont hate them. I am not a personal fan of any specific manufacturer. I look for key features in all phones and the one that gives me exactly what I am looking for wins. The thing I dint like about any Android phones made by Motorola was Motoblur - in my opinion that is the worst user interface I have ever used on an Android phone. I liked TouchWiz and HTC Sense a lot more than Motoblur. But now a days I root all my phones and install clean ROM.

Currently using the Note 2 not because it is a Galaxy phone but because of the awesome software and hardware. I know this is a phone I can use for longer than 2 years and remain satisfied. That huge screen and long battery life is full of win. 🙂

>>does anyone remember any modern smart phones before the Motorola Droid?

The HTC MDA 8525 was 10 times the phone the original iPhone was the day it was released. And if I remember correctly, the 8525 was pushing 2 years old at that point.

But if by "modern smartphone" you mean something running Android, the HTC Hero was one of the first two handsets to run Android, if memory serves me correctly. HTC has long been a solid and consistent manufacturer of smartphones, as evidenced recently by the One.

But I share your sentiment that Motorola is an established manufacturer with brand presence and the ability to create quality products that resonate with consumers. Their integration into Google should hopefully result in a stellar produc...
