Probably the only smart decision Sprint has ever made. An extra 5x5 LTE on the EMSR or whatever you call it will be nice and 1x Advanced of course. Sprint can finally get indoor building penetration!

Good in the sense that technology marches forward, bad because QChat still has lingering issues.
Where I work, we've transitioned over to SDC. Once everyone was using it at the same time, the backhaul on the network became overwhelming. Sprint continues to improve the new PTT platform, but still have a long way to go.

QChat? People still use that? Considering every device that it came on is dead and discontinued, Sprint has made little effort to upgrade the network like they have told you.
Sprint Direct Connect is an app, and completely different than QChat as you knew it. This is essentially a rebadged Push to Talk App, like TiKL or Voxer is and again, still only works on a few devices, and is as useless as analog is today.
If you are looking for a REAL solution, as many Nextel subscribers have, then I suggest AT&T as their PTT network is continuously upgraded left and right. They do use an app, but it is on more devices and the network doesnt bog down like Sprint does when people are using it, since AT&T is using HSPA+ a technology more efficient ...

SDC is not an app, mr AT&T employee, how very uniformed you are. SDC is used via DC button just like older Nextel handsets, except over LTE, EVDO, and 1x via a different service than Qchat.
Call it Enhanced Qchat or Qchat 2.0 or whatever you want, but Qchat is not what is being used. The Torque is currently using EVDO and 1x, but will get a MR to work on LTE for SDC pretty shortly.
There is like 2 maybe 3 handsets that are regulated to an SDC app, as a cool bonus feature, but the Dura line from Kyocera, the Sonim and Moto's Admiral units all have a dedicated DC button, just like the Iden Handsets.
Plus, those Mexico Nextel users can be reached via SDC cross country, which keeps a big portion of users moving to SDC since it's still...

Well, I don't know if its an "app" or not but I would point out that you can assign Verizon's PTT to a "DC button" on the phone, and at least in the case of the Blackberry version, it is very much an "app," so saying it isn't an app because it has a DC button is, well, uninformed.

I'm speaking striclty of SDC, not Verizon PTT, or ATT PTT or SouthernLYNC or anyone else. I use a DuraMax for SDC everyday to connect to others for inventory and parts, and have had no coverage issues and no app is used.

5x5 on ESMR is not their best decision. In fact, it rather blows. There is 12Mhz on the ESMR, but only 10Mhz can be used for LTE. Leaving dead air on 2Mhz or a 1Mhz block of CDMA, which is useless as well as pointless.

It rarely works indoors (and it should since it is in 1900Mhz) since LTE is prone to major interference at the air interface level, but Sprint refuses to turn the power up, in hopes they dont overload the network while they are trying to pull some network vision fiasco. Unfortunately, Sprint has no idea how to use carrier-aggregation like T-Mobile does, and it will still be some years before Sprint realizes that taking that 5x5 19...

The funny part is that he probably just googled this information and copied and pasted from another message board. The ironic part about this is that Tmobiles signal is 1900mhz and 2100mhz for LTE... LTE signal drops all the time for me its annoying although the speeds are fast. The main issue with Tmobile is that there is absolutely NO in building penetration for anything no voice, no text, no data. I have to use WiFi all the time no mater what building I go into its very frustrating but you cant beat their pricing specially if you bring your own phone.
