Medium-Sized Cities

It's interesting that many of the cities Sprint is launching LTE in are medium-sized cities. For example, here in Michigan, the cities they've recently launched and the ones they are slating to launch are all our medium-sized cities. Detroit is noticeably absent.

Simply put, why would you put new and untested equipment in a large market with the greater chance to fail? When you can first launch in smaller markets and fine tune the process. Sprint is doing a great job with building out their LTE network.

New & untested? Really! Been used, and tested on Verizon for well over 2yrs, ATT for more than a year, LTE isn't new!

Each LTE deployment in the US is different. Different infrastructure vendors, different legacy network compatibility, different propagation characteristics.

Jay, you might want to realize that -- as someone who works as a security guard -- you probably lack the education and qualifications to make many of the assertions that you do. Give it a rest.

As for the medium sized city issue, that is nonsense. Sprint started Network Vision deployment in major markets, including Atlanta, Dallas, and Kansas City. The difference is that Sprint is rolling out Network Vision to ...

Keep in mind that bigger cities require more towers to be upgraded so that takes a little longer since it has a wider geographic and population footprint. Itll come by the end of the year be patient. ;)

Or Stockton...The only reason Napa needs LTE is for the Sprint cup race at Sonoma. Stockton is HISTORICALLY bad, and it's one of Sprints biggest markets. We were one of the first to have Wi-MAX, so why the delay with LTE?

Sprint and big markets don't play well together. They're trying to do the smaller markets first this time around at a snails pace.

Considering big red already made their deal with the FCC (in exchange for phone records) to have the big markets first...Sacramento, Modesto, and Stockton were the first places in ca to have Wi-MAX, so the question is...why the wait now? These areas were INCREDIBLY popular when the first "4G" came about, why flake on us now?

You seem to think those areas are more important than the SF Bay Area and the Silicon Valley. You'll get your LTE in due time.

It just amazes me how Sprint does things the wrong way. Makes bad decisions left and right. The other carriers didn't have any issues with LTE. Even T-Mobile who was worse off than Sprint is doing LTE the right way. There's reports of it even showing up way ahead of schedule in some cities and at faster pace than Sprint started. They're even handling the MetroPCS merge better too. It's only been a couple of months but already MetroPCS cusotmers are benefiting from from it by being able to bring their own unlocked GSM devices in some cities. Sprint really needs to get it together. I know they're trying but they got to do better and stop making excuses.
