I love it when they call with a similar argument:

"I've been with you for X years and you all should give me X phone 'cause I deserve it."

My response:

"I've bought my gas from the same company for 10 years and they've never paid a single time on my car."

As though cell phone service is an entitlement program. If you ask for something outside of your wireless agreement, then you should acknowledge that you are not entitled to it. By signing up, you agree to pay for the service and by signing for equipment you agree to not being eligible for another discount for X period of time. If you don't like it, don't agree to it.
