Okay, I just read the whole article and it seems like Nextel is getting the raw end of the deal. Wasn't this supposed to be a merger of equals?

And why are they branding their products with different names? I know that they won't have a single network for quite some time but couldn't they just start branding everything as Sprint-Nextel at once? I guess using the seperate names will make the iDen and CDMA thing less confusing for consumers. 😕

Don't be. It'll be a few years before we see any type of merger of technologies. Heck, it'll be a couple of years before we see phones that support both technologies. I don't think the merger is even legal yet...officially. As for spotty coverage on Sprint's part...are you limiting this to a certain area, or do you travel nationally? The only place my Sprint service didn't work in the two years I used it was the m...

thanks muchdrama.. I'm sure your right about my statement about spotty coverage. I used it once for 10 days was not impressed, that doesnt mean they have spotty coverage. Thanks for the answers.

No worries, mate...I think people like to jump on the "I hate Sprint" bandwagon (and leave folks like you believing the hype). I never had anything but great service with Sprint during my two years with the company.

🙂

but i think it will be a great integration anyway, especially a lot better then cingular/att wireless' becuase nextel/sprint will have the best mgmt in the industry. especially the best CTO in barry west.

alright... but it will be the truth... awe/cingular didnt plan it right and they are paying for it. plus with their terrible mgmt and cto they are paying for it too.

nextel/sprint are on the other side of that spectrum. ie best mgmt and cfo and they will def. plan it right. if the consensus rebanding plan goes well then the integration should too.

"On the money with everything you say"?

Could you be referring to your famous quote of "Cingular won't be profitable for 75 years"?

Or maybe you might be referring to that great quote where "Nextel owns Qchat".

Yeah, you're always right on the money...especially when you said Nextel/Sprint would be merging their networks before 2007-2009.

Cingular doesn't seem to be hurting in the subscriber adds department.

so what? they got most of it from their att wireless merger.

i will be wondering if they can sustain this growth when the market becomes saturated and then they will have to increase arpu and data arpu somehow. they arent good with lifetime revenue per user, arpu and churn. perhaps that will change.

you cant come to any conclusions as of right now with cingular/att wireless, in my opinion, becuase we should give it another year or so. i want to see what umts/hsdpa does vs ev-do rev a and/or wimax/ipwireless.

so far, nextel/sprint and verizon are doing very well against cingular/attw.

Neither Nextel or Sprint (they're built from the ground up, remember?) have ever dealt with a merge, let alone one of this magnitude. Cingular had already had experience in merging BellSouth and SBC. Not to mention they're integrating a network of the same technology, unlike Sprint and Nextel. I think that Cingular and AT&T have the advantage in the game of combining two companies, whether you would like to believe it or not. We'll see...

Best management in the industry? Where in hell did you pull that from? I'll give you that Nextel's management may be exceptional because they've sure gotten the customer loyalty thing down, but Sprint's management?!? What have they done that is so spectacular, because if they have done something, I don't think any of us have seen it? If you ask me, the best management in the industry is coming from Verizon, because, well you can just look at the company they have become to see that.

I'd imagine that's exactly why they chose to keep Nextel separate for iDen-based service: Don't rock the corporate accounts just yet.

it is a merger of equals, but it helps both companies equally.

they are branding different products becuase they dont want to confuse customers/subscribers. (basically what you said)
