I understand what Dish is saying. But to quote Phone Scoop.

"SoftBank has signaled to the U.S. government that it will let officials elect a new person to Sprint's board of directors. This person would be responsible for overseeing national security concerns."

I don't know any other Non-US based company to make such a concession without even being asked to make it.

Personally I believe this is a way to calm any critics down who may yell National Security vulnerability like Dish Network is doing.

Honestly if Dish can come up with the cash and out bid SoftBank then by all means let Dish by them. But from what I have read (not limited to Phone Scoop), SoftBank seems to be going out of their way to allay fears. And I hope and pray th...

LOL well played Dish. Still going to lose though. Their additional spectrum does sound intriguing but the fact that they have so much borrowed money to just buy Sprint is a huge turn off.

I really hope this just gets ignored and they move on with Softbank.

I tend to agree, but you have one company with extreme debt, buy another company in extreme debt and niether of them are exactly well run.

Being said, if Dish outbids Softbank, and I was a shareholder with Sprint, I'd take the more money and run. But in the end, they will both fail. Dish doesn't have the money and assets to go against AT&T and VZW.

Think about it, what part of debt plus more debt would equal a positive outcome? o.O

As far as Keep "American" American hasnt really happened since everything you buy now a days is either made Chinese, Indian, or from some other rural country.

I fully support the purchase of Sprint by Softbank simply because they bring real cash not more debt, they bring experience and guidance as an already successful Japanese telecommunication company, plus the immediate assets necessary for Sprint to complete the Vision network build out and 4G LTE launch they so desperately need compete with ATT and Verizon.

Tmobile is a not a threat to Sprint right now. When you compare coverage Sprint has Tmobile beat, I dont care how fast your data is in "s...

I actually agree with this statement. I read that Dish is having to take a 10 Billion dollar(Dr Evil pinky) loan to make this deal happen. Meaning that plans for network expansion beyond 2013 will be slowed down to pay back debt. Softbank is bringing money in not stealing from peter to pay paul.

I personally don't agree with a foreign company owning and operating a major communication company such as Sprint. With the ever increasing threat of cyber terrorism being committed against the US, we need to protect ourselves from these threats as much as possible. Since China is a communist nation, who is not to say that they won't have any say in the running of this Softbank company which is making a bid for Sprint. Please remember, that China is the BIGGEST counterfeiter of US intellectual property in the world.

Just because they are going to let someone from the government be on the board of directors doesn't mean they can't slip something by the board causing a major threat to our National security. We all know how governments c...
