Homeless people rejoyce

2.5Ghz to offer High speed data to densely populated areas? I am gonig to assume they mean tent cities / public parks with lots of homeless people, because unless you are outside, that spectrum doesn't penetrate. Anything. Toilet paper can effectively block that frequency.

🙄

The problem with Clearwire's deployment was site density. With Network Vision, Sprint will have the ability to put 2.5GHz on every Sprint cell site, not to mention the possibility of small cells.

If you think the Clearwire spectrum is so worthless, why is that Sprint, SoftBank, Dish and Verizon Wireless have all shown interest in it?

Its definitely not worthless it has potential and they have it around because of the bandwidth capability it has and the relief it will create once it is used appropriately with the Multimode towers they have.

It's not entirely worthless but you need twice as much money to provide sufficient coverage as 700MHz or 800MHz which Sprint currently doesn't have. They're already coming up with B.S. excuses for their late LTE deployment such as blaming it on birds on the vendors themselves. You don't see Verizon or AT&T wining.

Actually they do have 800mhz. They are shutting down Nextel to use that spectrum June 30th. So they will have better reception very soon. As far as BS excuses I dont consider them that. If you think about it, if the materials you need to build something arent available that is going to slow down the deployment. ATT and Verizon started building out LTE 2 years ago. Sprint just started last fall so yes that is why they are behind they decided to go with Wimax over LTE and it was a bad choice now they are recovering from it nicely.

"Materials aren't available"???

T-Mobile just launched LTE in 7 markets, and will have 100 million covered with LTE by mid-year, as in soon.

So the equipment certainly is available, at least to T-Mobile.
Sprint is just making excuses.

Their customers put up with way, way too much!

Well Sprint scored higher in customer satisfaction than T-mobile in the latest ACSI study so maybe T-Mobile's customers put up with way, way too much...

Polls mean nothing. Current polls are quite favorable of Obama, but yet the economy remains extremely sluggish, and there is going to be MORE than $20 trillion in federal debt by the end of his "so-called presidency", so if polls are an accurate measure of anything in this world, well good luck to us all. Cause there are a whole bunch of Americans that are dilusional about the current direction of this country.

Obviously, polls have no legitimate value to me.

Well, there ya go... I'm no fan of partisanship but it is a well known fact Obama has clearly lowered the deficit itself. You, sir, have no interest in reality and only like to whine and create argument so no one really cares what your opinion is...

The fact is Sprint was very late to the LTE game after going with WiMax and indeed created their own hole... No one said they expected to be fully up and running and are catching up quite nicely now... As someone who sells Verizon, I am in fact a little worried!

Well it wasnt a complete fail as they did gain all that 2.5ghz spectrum that Clear was offering, They will be using this nicely with their 4G LTE to free up bandwidth on 1900mhz and 800mhz. I dont think LTE on ATT or Verizon works the same way so definitely something to look into.

There is 4G LTE with Sprint in my location. I like their new Sprint As You Go services I just dont like their selection of phones and lack of mobile hot spot on the phone.

Hopefully they improve that selection in the future.

It's also a mathematical fact that if businesses weren't so scared to hire people, and more of the 11 million unemployed, which by the way is unchanged from the day he got elected, there would be no deficit because more people would be paying taxes.
Apparently having a president who has had no positive impact on the economy in FIVE years is exceptable by you.

Nobody can explain to me why Reagan added 5 million jobs after the Carter recession, but Obama can't do the same.

You'll see for yourself what kind of shape this country is in when 2016 comes. I'm just saddened that Obama's performance is considered exceptable. Americans have clearly lowered their standards & expectations.
If he were a CEO, he would've been fired a long time ago...

The entire history of this country, no president has ever had a deficit higher than 400 billion annually, until Obama came along. But since you support Obama, that means you consider the absence of prosperity in America exceptable. Americans have very, very low standards and expectations in the Obama era.

I don't consider 17+ trillion in federal debt, and 11 million people unemployed as exceptable performance for someone who is suppose to lead and govern.

This administration will go down in history of an 8 year period when leadership and governing was non-existent.

I don't know If I'm confused about the term "trillion".
I'm thinking of a trillion as 1000 billion, so.
You said the nation's debt is 17+trillion, that's 42,5 X 400billion.

You are saying that the national deficit is actually 42.5 times higher than ever in this country's history?

That sounds awfully insurmountable!
Is it that bad for real or I'm just confused?

Sorry for opening a can of worms, perhaps we should start a separate thread on this on the message boards.

But in reality just to give my two cents inflation, unemployment, lack of jobs, etc. arent any presidents direct fault per say there are many factors that add on to a unemployment rate and lack of jobs.

I credit it all to corporations taking their businesses to other countries to avoid taxes (cough Apple is a huge one, Cough Harman, JBL, etc.), Federal Reserve printing more fake money, big business tax cuts, and much more I would not get into this on this cell phone thread; however, I do say that there is a solution there and we are overlooking it its not hard and it's mainly due to how close minded our republican and democrat...

LOL politics. You cant fix something that is broken over night it takes time. Our country is going to be in a hole longer than our lifetime if nothing changes when I say change I dont mean increase or decrease tax rates I mean everything as a whole agriculture, renewable energy, federal reserve, FDA, legalization of HEMP NOT Marijuana but HEMP!!!!, Monsanto, the list is long and therefore I see very little change in our economy and our government.

LOL Tmobile and LTE good one... I have Tmobile and everything they have to say about 4G and LTE is always to good to be true. Same boat with Tmobile the difference is that Sprint certainly has better voice coverage and wider range of 3G data.

For those who dont have Tmobile when you Travel with a Tmobile phone it is absolutely the most annoying and useless piece of equipment ever. When you are in the city and not inside your house or building you have fine coverage, if you dont have WiFi in your home the phone is worthless.

Only reason I put up with it is because I have WiFi and I brought my own phone. So my out of pocket expense is lower than it would be with any other carrier.

No they didn't. When Sprint launched Wi-Max there was no other option. It was either launch Wi-Max or lose the 2.5Ghz spectrum they were awarded for vacating the spectrum which bordered Public Safety. So they tried to turn lemons into lemonade. What should they have done? Given the spectrum back because LTE wasn't ready yet? Uh...hell no. Sure it's not as valuable, as 700 or 800, but it does have value and they have plenty of it. Now they just need some deep pocketed investors to... Hmmmm... Hello, Mr. Softbank. Perfect.

What that means is this the phones will have a triband radio towers mostly have all been upgraded to Multimode towers. What this will do is the phone and the tower will be communicating continuously and the tower will distribute the appropriate signal for the device depending on the network coverage information on the phone and interference aka being inside a building where 2.5ghz wont penetrate effectively in some places. So the closer you are to the tower your signal mode will vary on that 2.5ghz, or 1900mhz, and the farther you are away 800mhz.

This is a huge upgrade to the phones and a great relief for Sprint on the network. Since right now mostly all phones are on 1900mhz which is what is causing those slow 3G speeds and sub par 4G ...

There are pros and cons to the 2500 Mhz that Sprint/Clearwire have allocated for 4G. Building penetration is a con but to say toilet paper blocks the frequency transmission is obviously a facetious statement but also somewhat incorrect in the assumption of penetration. I live approximately 1.2 miles from the Sprint tower and the 2500mhz reaches and penetrates our house effectively. This includes the lack of line of sight by trees and other structures.

It is important to make note that the higher frequency DOES indeed penetrate structures. The misconception comes from marketing from those that hold gold spectrum. The higher frequency can't penetrate as easily but it does penetrate. Tower placement is key to ANY carrier frequency.
The pro...

That's why they're doing all three bands. If you're in a city - where most networks deal with congestion issues - then the devices will use 2500 when they get a good signal, and fall back to other bands when 2500 is weak. Sprint is adding 800 to the mix specifically to ensure coverage and building penetration competitive with Verizon and AT&T.
