If it is a Galaxy S4

How can it run stock Android?

I thought that many of the 'Galaxy' features were Samsung add ons?

It is very tempting....if it was $200 cheaper it would be more tempting...if it was $300 cheaper I would order it right now.

It is a Galaxy S4. Same hardware. Just running stock Android, without all Samsung's crap added to it. There's no reason it would or should be cheaper since it's the same device. It's unlocked too, which makes it that much more valuable since you have carrier flexibility you don't get with a locked device.

I didn't say the price was unreasonable, only that if it was lower I would have less hesitation. The Galaxy Nexus was $399 and the Nexus 4 is $299.

I think in this case, I think the price is because the hardware is ridiculously better than the GNex or N4.

Don't you know for a fact that it won't wash your dishes? You don't know unless you try! 🤣

Back in the days when I worked tech support there was a story that went around about someone who allegedly got a phone call from someone who put his laptop in the dish washer to clean it off. He didn't understand why it no longer worked.

If I sold you a new computer with no OS, would you want to pay the same price as the retail box that contained your OS flavor of choice? Or would you consider that the absence of some software that you might want would make a difference in the price? Before you go there, I know that technically the unlocked GS4 comes with an OS. But my point is that hardware isn't the only thing that matters. Software has a value too.

The only reason why I'd chose a Samsung Galaxy S 4 over a much more stylized device as the HTC One (No worries about the battery, I could open the phone myself and replace it when it shortens 🙄 I repair phones) Is the software.
I have to recognize that Samsung's software is effectively more productive than the one found in The One ( yeah, pun intended... 🙄 )

Google S4 will work on Att & T-Mob, with LTE on each.

As to cost vs. previous Nexus phones pricing: Previous Nexus (Samsung Galaxy & LG) prices were subsidized by Google to get them in to circulation.

This new vanilla Android sounds great, even at $625.

The point of my question was actually 'how can it be a Galaxy S IV if it only runs stock Android?'

I mean seriously.....aren't all the 'Galaxy series' features Samsung add ons? You remove all the Samsung add ons, and it ceases to be an SIV.
