Okay, is it just me or does anybody else out there feel like it's getting to the point where these ultra high speeds aren't going to matter? Honestly, can anybody name something that I would need 100 mbps down for?

Super encrypted military data. Which, you know, we all have a use for.

well if one tower can support 100 mbps speeds then a lot more users can take advantage of a single tower without sacrificing speed when a lot of people are logged on, also it won't be long until streaming HDTV content will be available on the internet in mass proportions, this will take some serious bandwith, but your right mosst people don't notice a difference after 2 mbps speeds so thats probably what end user devices will support, while the transmitting end could support much faster speeds.

The capacity was the only advantage I could see from this.

Other than that, I don't see how HDTV will become incredibly popular in wireless devices. Possibly laptops equipped with these wireless capabilities but is it really possible to recieve hi-def images on a cell phone?

well, maybe wireless companies might want to start offering home video services with wireless set top boxes, mobile doesn't have to be limited to cell phones, they are developing for the future not the present, wireless companies are always rolling out new services to make more money, they aren't going to just stick to the technology they have available now.

Live Video Conference call with multiple users while sharing files, mp3s, listening to internet radio, watching live streamed hdtv, and browsing for movie times while your mom is on the other line.
I can't wait for my Nokia Nseries neocortex implants. I have already scheduled my Dr's appointment. 🤣

But seriously... the main thing would be hi res video calling and ultra highspeed internet options all at the same time.

Its not just you. You don't need 100 mbps for anything mobile. Those high speeds are ultimately about triple play mobile/fixed service. Operators want to replace fixed voice and broadband (dsl cable) lines as well as providing mobile (voice and broadband).

DoCoMo has tested things like hdtv to your phone but i see no value in that, maybe others will.

I can't help but wonder what is up with nokia. They are acting like a submissive puppy dog to intel's wimax ambitions. Qu...
