Well as I mentioned elsewhere on here, I was part of a RIM market research project back in 2012 where they were asking whether there would be interest in running BBM on iPhone, Windows Phone and Android...they also ran several scenarios on payments, including whether it would be better to offer a monthly subscription for $0.99, a one time payment of up to $2,99 for the app but free service after that, or a free ad supported app with the option to remove the ads and get more features by upgrading to a paid app.

They also asked several questions about whether BBM on other platforms would make you more or less likely to keep using Blackberry phones.

I only a part of the panel and don't know what the results were....but if they are going through with it I can only conclude that the results must have indicated that BBM on other platforms would be a reason for current Blackberry users to stay with Blackberry for their next phone.
