Well, to be fair, the campaign has been around for several years. This year, in particular, they're looking to educate teens 'cause danger will robinson danger.

A better 'it can wait' campaign would be one telling teens that they don't actually need a cell phone in the first place....it's not really necessary that everyone be given his own personal cell phone the moment they come out of the womb....

But then....that kind of common sense just wouldn't be good economics for the carriers I guess

Yeah, they would never do that. They would never tell anybody, as a cell phone carrier, that cell phones are not needed, seems counter productive to their main line of business.

However, you're right. The year I was born in, 1985, cell phones, facebook, the internet, none of it existed really, and yet people seemed to get by just fine!

I just think it is absurd that every kid has his own personal cell phone from the earliest age....I mean...you see 7 year old with a cell phone....why does a a 7 year old need a cell phone? Who is he going to call...Dora the Explorer?

🤣

my thoughts exactly! Also, as far as I am concerned, high schoolers do not need cell phones either. I got through high school JUST FINE without one! Technology has got us these days, got us in it's grasp. You want your kid to have a cell phone so you can "stay in touch" with them? How about you be an actual PARENT to your kids, like in the good old days! "My kid doesnt have a cell phone I can't contact him", this leads me to the question "Where the hell are you then?? great parenting!"

We become so dependent on it and forget how to live our lives!

hahah Although all valid comments. I do believe children and teens alike can use a cell phone. A smart phone? No not necessary. But a phone to have some sort of communication between parents, I know a few families whose kids were in an instance where if they didnt have a cell phone could have been severely injured.

As far as this campaign I am glad the carriers are making the initiative and spending their money to spread the message.

Something I see on a daily basis which drives me crazy. Driving down the freeway in traffic, people glued to their phones and moving along with traffic slowly. get off your phones and DRIVE!.

There should be a built in feature in all phones that if your device is moving anything above 5mph it loc...

Dirty dirty! It's funny because I didn't think of that until I read your post. Based on the way that other issue is handled, I now expect public schools to hand out free phones with free unlimited messaging plans because they are just going to do it anyway. 🤣
