I think you're making a very unreliable generalization, and insulting the rest of humanity as well. Have you ever considered that your customer support experience is based on a population of people who are comfortable calling customer support? Of course most of your callers don't understand technology. But that doesn't mean that there's only some tiny sector of people who do. Technology is hands down the fastest growing sector of our society, and if it's not the largest it will be soon. You underestimate your customers, just like how Phonescoop has underestimated the demand for phones with large screens for several years now. You base your assumptions entirely on your own experiences.

But I would argue that you would be utterly dismayed at the number of people who would actually understand a technical review. Furthermore, this is the direction society is headed in, especially economically. So it only stands to reason that in the future there will continue to be more of such people, not less.

I don't deny that there are a plenty of people who want to read reviews written in layman's terms, and have already stated several times in this thread that I appreciate that approach to their reviews. Infact, I have even explicitly stated that I had no desire to see their process change. So when you to assert that I want them to "change the whole methodology," I can't help but wonder if you've actually read anything I've written.

You've certainly missed the point. I requested that they add some more technical sections to their reviews, in order to better cater to both groups of readers. This would not detract from anything they're currently doing, but would instead enhance it. Anyone not interested in those sections could just skip over them the same way I routinely skip over the sections on text messaging and social networking. You're really arguing with some stance that isn't even mine.

Besides, if you're actually correct about what people want and what it makes sense to review, then based on your logic the iPhone is the single best selling model of phone. So, clearly people really only want to hear about iPhones. Why should Phonescoop even bother acknowledging the existence of any other device, let alone post news of its launch or actually review it? I mean the percentage of people interested in the iPhone is greater than the percentage of people interested in any other model. Obviously, Phonescoop's interests are best served by focusing only on the customers who are interested in that device - based on your logic.

In the end, it's up to Phonescoop how to conduct their reviews. But it's not entirely unreasonable to request that they add some content that would attract more readers (spelled a-d-v-e-r-t-i-s-i-n-g r-e-v-e-n-u-e).
