Exactly. And having "no plan b" is a horrible business model. I can't think of any instance where having no plan b is ever a good idea..

Why don't you keep your political propaganda to yourself. We're here to discuss cell phones, not why you think you're entitled to an abortion.

Funny retort, but it doesn't excuse your post. There are plenty of other avenues where you can sling insults at people who disagree with your political stance. It makes much more sense to only insult people based on their electronic preferences here 😛

I don't think it is a bad move at all to put your efforts towards developing a unique and original platform rather than being yet another 'me too' Android OEM. 'Windows Phone with Nokia' offers something that no one else can offer.....yet another Android phone on the other hand? Ho Hum.

....and the same applies to Blackberry....adopting Android, and thus losing whatever value or advantage the distinctive 'Blackberry' branding might have, would be suicide.

It is easier to succeed by offering something nobody else has than by being a copycat who is indistinguishable from everyone else.

Or the new Ubuntu or Firefox platforms......I don't really buy the idea that they don't have any other options....

They do have other options. They have been leaking a new qwerty keyboard phone info, that isn't in the WP8 family. Albeit, it's a low end phone, but a plan none the less.

I agree that Nokia did the right thing for them, by supporting WP8 more completely, than say Samsung. I really wanted the Samsung Ativ S version of WP8, but they never released it here in the states. I ended up getting a Lumia 920 and love it. Nokia really supports the phone and OS.

I read an article that talked about whether or not Nokia would have survived with Android. I'm not sure it wouldn't have gotten lost in the mix of other phones out there. But, however it would have turned out, I'm glad they decided to go WP7.x WP8. While neither are perfect and have room ...

Then they should have stayed with their own OS. Sorry windows while not a bad platform simply is not holding it's own against iOS and Android at this point.

The problem with Symbian was that it was once the #1 platform....but it was rapidly falling.....as he said when he took over Symbian was 'a burning platform'.....

He said back in 2011, "Plan B is to make sure that Plan A is very successful”. I guess they switched out the "religion of Symbian" to the "religion of Windows Phone" in Nokia.
