Will continue to suffer. T-Mobile and MetroPCS do not work well when traveling out of urban areas or off major interstates.

Huummm,

Well you could buy and carry a prepaid Verizon feature phone when you have no coverage. Prepaid minutes are good for 90 days after purchase.

🙂

Come on. Have you ever used a Metro phone outside of the coverage area? They have roaming agreements in place with Sprint and US Cellular. I have no problems with Metro in rural areas.

Well, you might, after you're next upgrade! Sprint and US Cellular use CDMA which is not compatible with T-Mobile phones.

I have no issues with coverage. They will continue to build out their network on a capacity and coverage level. They spend about $3 billion per year. Now, that they are spending less on subsidies they can focus more on what they do best.. providing value for their customer and growing their network. They will.

Legere as CEO. Guy is a tool. Does he really believe anyone buys the Un-carrier BS he is spreading?? WTF is that. Why does he not just say "we suck and we know it so don't lump us with good carriers!!!" Because that is what I heard. I laugh every time I hear that guy speak. As long as they have a cartoon character for a CEO they will be in CH 11 real quickly. Oh and I believe they have not grown the value and network. In fact their network is the worst in industry. Old adage if you add two dogs with fleas you get one big dog with fleas and Legere is scratching!!!

I'm going to agree and disagree with you. I agree, Legere comes off as being a tool with what he says and the way he says it, I agree with that 100%. However - what they are doing is working. 1st / 2nd Q of 2013 is the first time T-Mobile has been in the positive numbers in a WHILE for adding subscribers, so the changes are working. The customers apparently like this, as again, they havent been + in awhile, but now are adding more subscribers than are leaving, which is pretty much the only thing they could have hoped for, the only thing ANY carrier could hope for.

I will agree and disagree with you. :-)

They actually did not make their "un-carrier" change until recently. So I doubt this had any impact on Q1 numbers. What helped them was MPCS at same time was losing subs. The past few years MPCS has been stealing TMO and SPCS subs. Recently MPCS stopped growing as they reached max capacity. I see TMO's strategy going bye, bye. It makes no sense. Once MPCS opens up in TMO markets there is absolutely no reason I would go with the convoluted "un-carrier" BS they are selling. I would go with MPCS simple package. Is someone really going to pay more for the TMO brand?? I don't think so.

Regardless of strategy point is the guy is a tool. He is doing more harm than good to the company.

Yeah, he realllllly comes off to me as being too laid back and unprofessional, considering he is a CEO. He also seems overconfident, as if hes saying "Yeah, these changes WILL work" when I'm sure inside his head he's thinking "This s#it has better work!!!"

Also, yeah.. surprisingly, there are many people who will pay more just for the T-Mobile brand even if their service is not the greatest. I agree with you, brand loyalty is really not logical, for pretty much any brand.

I remember talking to people who were loyal to the car brand Pontiac, even though they had sub-par quality and bad prices, and sub-par styling. It doesnt matter how good or bad it is, it matters who likes it, and lots of people do.

Dude...the GTO, Firebird, Trans AM, and the Solstice were awesome.

OK. You had my respect building with GTO, Firebird and Trans AM. But then you had to ruin it with the Solstice. 😉

Nice car, but not in the class as earlier Pontiac cars. I think his point was that Pontiac went from GTO, Firebird and Trans AM to the Grand Prix, Grand AM and the Montana! Ugh.

Basically brand will get you only so far and quite honestly TMO does not have the best brand to begin with. MPCS already showed they can steal customers from TMO and that was with less coverage on MPCS network!!! I do remember the Isuzu and the Honda Passport. Same exact cars made on same exact plant. In fact you open hood of Honda Passport it had sticker that it was made by Isuzu. Funny thing was that Honda sold almost 4x what Isu...

I hope you're talking about the Old GTO.

The New GTO's drive platform was terrible, the rear-wheel drive platform they used was ancient when they produced the first new GTO, and much power is lost through the drivetrain. More then most other RWD cars. There were a few nice Firebird and TransAM models (the ones without the 3.8L V6), as far as the solstice goes, the ECU (engine computer) had a huge problem, it would get really hot and burn itself out, it was not tethered down properly in the engine bay. If you have access to a solstice, pop the hood and touch the board, it will move inside the harness, a very, very bad thing.

The old GTOs, however, were beautiful muscle cars.

I am talking about the 1965-1972 GTO's. When they were Tempest and Le Mans and they had a real engine!!!

I think he is a good CEO.. this company cant go bankrupt when it has assets and subscribers (as well as cash). Also, DT is supporting T-mobile USA. (at least for the next 18 months) ...

I like the new T-mobile. I was very impressed with the first quarter. We shall see if it continues since this business model is much better than the 2 year contract business model. We'll have to see what CPGA is.
