Earthlink Wireless Treo 650 ?'s

I'm a current US Cellular Corp. customer. USCC has no plans to offer the Treo 650, so I'm intrigued by the availability of the 650 through Earthlink.

Earthlink Wireless's service is fairly new though, so does anyone out there have experience with their coverage, customer service, etc.?

As an MVNO, Earthlink Wireless piggybacks off other wireless providers. Believe I read that they use both Sprint and Verizon Wireless. Is that the case? Is one of them their "dominant" carrier? I'd like to think if I got the Earthlink service that I'd be spending most of my life on Verizon's network as opposed to Sprint's. Unfortunately in my area (Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia), Verizon does NOT have a presence (just to the south and east of us tho...

Why sudder at being on Sprints CDMA network when Verizon's CDMA network does not work in your area? If you were to have Sprint with the Free and Clear America, you would he using both networks as the Verizon network would be your roaming network when off the Sprint network. A very large combined network with no roaming charges. In any case, I think the MVN0 is with Sprint so that would be the dominant network for Earthlink.

Kanza:

My concerns my well indeed be unfounded, but out here in the "sticks", my US Cellular voice coverage is rock solid while I have Sprint friends who constantly complain about dropped calls and poor coverage. I'm probably not getting the "full story" from them, so it may not be the issue they make it out to be.

I have no doubts that Sprint's coverage is fine in more urban settings and along the interstates but I'm always wary out here in the hills of West Virginia. USCC has solid coverage here and throughout most of the state.

Unfortunately from a data and PDA phone perspective, USCC is still flying DC-3's while the rest of the wireless world is flying sleek, new jets.

I think Sprint's network is getting to crowded. With Virgin, Sprint and now Earthlink users cluttering it up. I'm glad i bailed on cdma.

It's not too crowded, they still have plenty of bandwidth. Which is one reason they are still signing MVNOs .

Are you referring to Earthlink? Sprint is $15.00 for unlimited data and although I haven't checked, probably has lower priced voice plans. I'm not trying to start a debate, I just couldn't understand the point of the original post. Leaning toward Verizon s network although no service in his area when Sprint has service and is also CDMA.

Earthlink has an plan that is data only for 19.95 and pay per use on the phone, since I already have wireless service with Alltel this would be a way of adding data at a reduced price, not sacrificing coverage for voice and getting a 650 since Alltel hasn't offered/may never offer it,

Verizon or Sprint do not offer data as a stand alone option on smartphones you have to bundle it with voice and that gets $$ plus earthlink only requires a 1 yr commitment 😁

Verizon voice 39.95+ data 44.95= too much money as a data phone

Bolthead... allow me to give you the rationale behind my original post...

I live in a little sliver of West Virginia called the Eastern Panhandle -- surrounded on three sides by Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia (all three almost close enough to walk to).

Our market is served by US Cellular (my carrier) and Sprint on the CDMA side. Verizon is just across the border in the above mentioned states.

Folks who I talk to here in the Panhandle with Sprint constantly complain about their local coverage and Sprint's CS. My friends in these neighboring states with Ver...

Again muchdrama,

without further explination I got out of his post that Verizon DID NOT Work in his area and Sprint did. Which one sucks more from that post? I have people in my area that tell me the same thing yet I have no problems with Sprint coverage. On the same note, he himself said he has never actually tried the Sprint services himself, so he can not be certain.

I don't understand why you get yourself into discussions that have nothing to do with you. I replied to him and he responded. You seem to have jumped in to stir the pot and answer on my behalf, please don't do that again, no one wants to here it. Keep your responses to your own thoughts and opinions or added factual data that my help the discussion or clear up ...

Not too crowded? That's a funny thing to say when 1/3 of my calls either dropped or couldn't be placed due to the "all circuits busy" error. My friend is a Sprint Tech and agrees that the netowork is too weak in a lot of markets to support anymore growth.

They should probably fire him then, as he doesn't even understand the technology he's dealing with.

So are we. 'Cause if you did any type of research you'd find that CDMA offers so much capacity, and Sprint owns so much spectrum, that it's kinda impossible for the network to get crowded.
