So what's the point exactly?

If analysts don't see any benefit for either company by way of a merger...what exactly IS the point? I hope Siemens isn't putting the last nail in its coffin.

analyts know nothing, they speculate. I speculate that the ben-q phones i've seen on this site blow any siemens phone ever made out of the water. hopefully this will lead to better quality phones with cooler designs.

I should have elaborated. Ben-Q isn't known anywhere, except maybe in parts of Asia. They make crappy, poorly put together products. Circuit City even sells a few, and they ALL come back. No exceptions. Pure crap. For Siemens to consider this merger/buyout/brand sharing venture, I'd imagine they see it as a chance to make their brand known in Asia. Which is smart. But with Ben-Q? Like I said...this might be the last nail.

Siemens makes ugly lackluster phones and BenQ makes cheap products all together. Siemens should just give it up. No one cares about their phones anyway.

Actually, Siemens makes pretty damn good hansets that are very popular in the professional sector over in Europe. But Siemens negelected other key demographics, thus their failure. I will agree with you about Ben-Q, though...they make nothing but pure, unadulterated crap.

You know what you're right, they are very popular over in Europe. Other person I see walkin the streets over there has one. Maybe I was bit harsh on Siemens. They had one or two phones in the past that I actually considered.

But other than that Siemens to me seems boring. Maybe they shoulda made phones for Verizon and try CDMA or something. LOL. I think for some weird reason they would do well on Verizon. Even with crippled bluetooth and all.
