"Verizon says this is to better help people understand when they are eligible for new device discounts."

Honestly ... what an absolutely gigantic load of crap.

Let me fix that:
Verizon says this is to better help people pay us for an extra four months to subsidize the same crappy phone.

I really wish Verizon didn't have the best signal where I live.

They have the best signal pretty much everywhere thus the reason they cost so much.... AND if you dont like the extra 4 months then you can go to TMO and pay FULL retail spread out over 24 months.....

News Release: Verizon is now charging a minimum of $200/month, and every upgrade has a $100 processing fee

Customers: This is ridiculous! Verizon has just went too far! I am going to cancel my contract and look at other carriers!

ATT: Interesting! Why did we not think of that first? Let us do the same thing, except change one minor detail, to show that we are unique...

Typical Verizon rep: If you are upset with this, go on to some other carrier, and enjoy their crappy coverage. Verizon has coverage EVERYWHERE, and every other carrier has coverage NOWHERE...(while at the same time, the rep enjoys his discounted service for being a Verizon rep)

Am I wrong about this?

Funny you say that.... Verizon has proven to have the largest network and has 10 years of JD powers customer awards that seem to say they must be doing something right.... AND I have no discount for verizon besides my wifes corp discount she gets for where she works and over 70% of the customers get some sort of 8%-25% corp discount... If you would take the time to really check prices att is within a few bucks for the exact same plans and tmo is about 20 bucks a month but hey you have to pay 580 bucks for an iphone that at verizon is 199.... hummmmm ..... Seems to all be about the same???? I agree past years the cost diffrence was much bigger but at this point unless you go with a boost or metro pcs or cricket you are in for about the ...

Not the greatest of T-Mobile fan, but how do you figure that it is 20/mo cheaper, when T-Mo's plan for unlimited min and data is $70/mo (50 + 20), and Verizon's starts at 100/mo with only 2 GB of data (40+60)?

You say that for Verizon, you only pay 199 for the Iphone, but in reality you are paying the subsidy in your monthly rate. What I do not like is that when the contract is over, a customer will continue to pay that subsidy each month that he is month to month.

Not saying that T-Mo works for everybody, but it does work for some...and for those, it is a better value..

My point is, whether Verizon is still the best carrier for you or not, them constantly doing anti consumer policies should not be encouraged..And other carriers a...

Instead of $199 on that Verizon contract you could pay $649 for that Iphone at Walmart. At some point in time you going to pay the full price for that phone you have in your pocket. The question is who gives you better service day in day out.

I never understood what everyone's problem is with T-Mobile. Coverage? Maybe I'm lucky that I have amazing T-Mobile coverage where I am.
As far as everything else, I am very happy with the pricing of what I get, and their customer service is unparalleled. I stop by the T-Mobile store all the time with small questions and they are always very helpful.

For me, my problem with T-Mobile is the severe lack of coverage in my area. However, I know that they have more coverage in other places, and its HSPA+ 42 data speeds are fast enough for me.

I've been a Verizon customer for over a decade and I have no plans to move on, but I do get tired of this, "It's for your own good," crap.

They pulled this when they wanted to put a data plan on every phone that could access the internet, saying that, "It would prevent any surprises on the bill."

The carriers now have us all by the boys.

Why can't they just be honest, instead of treating us all like children.

I can handle my phone usage by myself, thank you.

I can also read my contract to find out when I can upgrade. That information used to be on their website right beside a picture of my phone.

Oh, well. When there's universal wifi, maybe I can unplug the phone for good.

Of all the things I use my cellphone for, phon...

The T-Mobile deal works like this. If you want to buy an iPhone from T-Mobile, it will cost you $99 for the 16GB version, plus monthly payments to T-Mobile of $20 per month for 24 months. The net cost, since T-Mobile isn’t charging interest is $579 for an unlocked iPhone. You can buy the same phone, complete with a T-Mobile SIM from Apple, for $649. That’s a $70 discount

I've been using T-Mobile since 2006 (While working for Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint) and i can say i've never had any issues with T-Mobile and i drive cross country a few times a year.

I can count the number of dropped calls i've had on T-Mobile on my fingers in the years i've had them, and their HSPA+ data is consistently faster than my Verizon LTE (provided) work phone (not to mention in Phoenix, i drop way more calls on Verizon than on T-Mobile!)

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with T-Mobile, but that's just not the case for most that use it.

to get the second best coverage with a carrier that doesn't insult their customer's intelligence.
But to each their own, I guess.
