2.1 is old and I thought the Motorola Droid came out in summer of 2009 so that would make it an almost 4 year old phone.

A lot of low-end phones are coming out with 4.0 I am surprise this update even supports 2.2.

Root your phone and install Cyanogenmod 7.1 and you will have Android 2.3 if you Google ice cream sandwich and the model number of your phone you may find a port of ICS for your phone.

Better pick it up before it hits the streets, unless you want a broken screen... just sayin'

oh, I also read an article stating the One is one of the most unrepairable phones every produced, everything in it is completly fused together. apparently pieces of the inside have to be broken off to replace the battery.

Good point. Yes its true you have to break the phone apart to replace the battery. However HTC has been dealing with that for a while EVO LTE has this problem too. However the battery on the One is sooooo good. I doubt itll have to be replaced within a 2 year contract period.

LOL. Technically you are correct, but I think you are missing the point that you either buy the phone outright which will cost you hundreds of dollars or you put it on a 20 month payment plan that gets tacked on to your monthly bill.

So you cant put another phone on a payment plan until you pay off the first payment plan you set up.

Also the payment plans are subject to a credit check. ;)

Tmobile deal sounds good on paper but there is more to it then just putting it on a payment plan.

My credit is fine and buying a phone after lets say 6 months is still better then waiting 2 years for an upgrade.

where do you live, I want to know about Tmo's coverage. When it comes to network technologies Tmo gas the best combination with HSPA+ 42 & LTE. ATT gave up on HSPA+ with 21, never followed the GSM upgrade path with HSPA+ 42, and thus lost me as a customer back in March of 2010.

I live in so cal and the coverage is great. We have 4g at my place of work. To me that is all that matters as I spend about 80 hours a week in the area.

Good choice. The HTC One is great. I like it better than the Samsung Galaxy S4. Just because of the body and the screen so beast.

Jay,
Friend of mine has the Droid Razr MAXX he likes it, Didn't thrill me but seems decent enough, I happen to agree with you on the recent and present lot of Moto devices. Only strong selling point is battery endurance. In anycase, I didn't get the new Play Store upgrade as of yet on my Nexus 4 or 7. Chatted with someone on freenode #nexus4 who did get it, and he said ok, but nothing great.
