well I think it is directly related to the general way TV Broadcasters/providers control in the US!
more than the mobile screens, how the hell would you pay at least $100 to get TV ? and it's not even with a guarantee that there will be no or less ads, it's the area of the world where there are the greatest amount of TV commercials per hours. Even if you have cordcutters (and interesting disruptors like Aereo, and of course Netlfix,...) so many people still get these bundles, it's shocking.
In other territories, more and more TV channels/group which are based on audience/advertising give their stream accessible on mobile, tablets,... whatever you want
Also, US wireless carriers focus on their core services and that's it. In other territories you have interesting offerings including Spotify, or SVoD offer with your wireless service (and these services consumption doesn't count towards your data cap if ever you have one) whereas here, sales rep (and store managers) at Verizon/AT&T/Sprint/T-Mobile/... are not even aware of their own mobile TV offers (if you show them you would have that need),.....
