Not the same as ATT buying T-mobile those are both global companies. Verizon buying US cellular would just be a good thing to get rid of a company that is dying anyways.

US Cellular is the sixth largest wireless network in the United States.. They serve about 5.8 million customers in 126 markets in 26 U.S. states - California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

That is much more than just midwest.
