they dont have a premium network- they just pay a lot of money to
1. acquire spectrum
2. pay heavily on subsidies
3. pay a lot for their employees and overhead
4. pay a lot on their network

because of the above 4 they have the right to charge any price point they want; however, that will backfire in the end. low cost/ ("value") proposition is where people want to be. Rich Brome actually nailed it with his article. I also wrote something on this for my MBA thesis. it was interesting to see that we had similar ideas.
