If you do it that way you won't get a rebate.

You won't get a MIR if you do that. If you close the account, or migrate before the first billing cycle closes, your MIR will be invalidated. As per the conditions of the contract, the Required Data feature must be on the account, and active, for you to receive the MIR, usually it takes 6 - 8 weeks to get the MIRs, and when they check your account to see if it is active or not, and check to see if you have the required data, they will see you don't, and deny the rebate.

The rest of your plan woudl work though, and is a good way to save money.
