No, you do not understand the article. The DoJ does not approve mergers -- it only opposes them. And the DoJ has indicated that it does not object. On the other hand, the FCC has to approve license transfers, and the FCC has not approved anything yet.

This merger won't create a competitor for Verizon and AT&T.

It could. T-mobile has a low priced cost measure which makes people who want to spend less and have more valuable think twice about spending an extra $40 per month access charge for Verizon and other higher fees for AT&T.

I would even pay admission to that circus once it opens to the public. VZW and AT&T would finally utilize all the spectrum they have been hogging for years to keep up. It would be a "madhouse"!!!!!!!

Jay,

I'm all for more competition but, I'm more in favor of consumers being ablle to have their voices heard. While the DOJ may have sped up their approval process by not filing any complaints, I fear they equally haven't taken the time to even listen to any complaints whatsoever.

Then begins our quest find a Jack to climb the bean stalk and slay the evil giant and bring us back the golden goose. But we're really not concerned about Jack. It never crosses our mind that Jack is a lazy thief who is all to willing to exploit our Gigantasophobia and that he never intends to share the goose. Suddenly we wind up with a fat Jack who is living large off the gol...

Keep in mind, this does not mean that it has been 100% approved. It still needs to pass more muster as well as shareholders.
