Hands-On with the HTC One
White and Silver
I am very skeptic of the this phone because I have the HTC One X and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Because of random reboots and software glitches.
HTC will continue to fail till they learn that stock android is getting great and it doesn't need to be skinned, removable battery and expandable memory is what people want. These are reasons why people bought Samsung, if HTC kept their widget and gave us stock android with removable battery and expandable memory they might be able to fight for the top positions again.
Most phones with removable batteries (such as the SIII and successors) always end up being mostly plastic and feel cheap. As little of an Apple fan as I am, I have always loved the weight of the iPhone 4 series because it just felt solid.
Even my Galaxy Nexus feels lame in comparison to an iPhone (5's not included, those things are like cardboard).

I wish there wasn't such a drop in quality (manufacture-wise) between phones without removable batteries and those with.

That's no coincidence. A phone with everything sealed up in one solid block will almost always feel better than a phone with separate parts latched together. Phones like the iPhone and One feel more solid because they are more solid. That's just one of the trade-offs with a removable vs. non-removable battery.

Another big disappointment is they still use off screen navigation, when 4.0 supports on screen just fine (after using the nexus 7 I prefer on screen navigation).
Wow. You might be the first person I've ever heard say that! 😉
But I know HTC's answer from a direct conversation with their head designers. They feel that on-screen Android controls are a waste of valuable screen area. They basically never change, so why waste pixels on them? Why not give you more screen to see more stuff? That's their position.
White phones are a whole lot better looking!
