I've been using the Strike for a month, the shape of the buttons make them easy to use with gloves and the call quality is GREAT, I really reccomend this phone above any of the Kyocera offerings

Sorry, our experience with the Strike is very much in line with the review: terrible sound quality - and volume is MUCH too low in even moderately noisy environments (Sonim is coming out with an add-on loudspeaker to remedy this shortcoming). ptt button is unbelievably small and very hard to push (no accidental chirping from this unit would be the upside) If you're going to use it indoors and only get 1900mhz CDMA, plan on getting an Airave, (free at the moment), but the units will lock up if you're mid ptt call and try to leave Airave coverage for network coverage.

This is weird, we have three of these and they are great in sound quality and volume. In fact we've been able to hear them over idling Cummins diesels. The CNET review also wrote up the excellent call quality. Wonder if there is a bad run of these?

I will have to agree that the different experiences point to manufacturing issues. BTW, had the same issues - and more -when we tried AT&T's version. Their ptt system (at least on the Sonim units) is definitely not ready for prime time.
