T-Mobile's Nokia Lumia 710 Will Not Receive Windows Phone 7.8
I am really angry about this.
Does anyone know how I could do it manually? I am not into "flashing" my phone, or turning it into a brick. I am pretty technical, but don't want to risk ruining my phone. Is there a way to force it to update through Zune or some other tool?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I love the phone itself.
Thank you!
Terry
This leaves me two devices in a row where T-Mobile has determined to end of life my device before the manufacturer did. My Nokia Astound was not updated to Nokia Belle when every other C7 variant on the planet was. It will take, perhaps, one more of these customerr service fails for me to jump ship. I love Nokia hardware but really dislike T-Mobile's lackluster support for it. The last Nokia device they supported well was the 6301.
Here is the link I found. It is amazing how happy it makes you feel when you are able to resize your tiles! LOL.

The only reliable way I've heard to get the upgrade is to manually flash the .cab files, which I'm a little more hesitant to do than I am with flashing Android ROMs. Mostly because the guide I read stressed that it was DIRE that you had to update ALL the language packs as well, that the language packs HAD to be for your specific phone model, and that it only worked if there were exactly 22 Language packs. The place I was getting files from had 24 packs for my phone, so I decided to ...

I love re-sizing tiles. You'd think that would be a minor feature, but it totally makes better use of the home screen and allows you a lot more flexibility. It's just like having a Windows 8 phone.
So, it does say that do it at your own risk, but I decided to take the plunge (normally I wouldn't) and I am so happy I did!
I really like T-Mobile, but I am sure it was a conscious decision to try and sell more Windows 8 phones...

Here's hoping!!
If WP8 fixes the app availability issue, I very well may have to upgrade to a newer Lumia for my next phone. Unless Samsung does something amazing that triggers my tech lust, anyway XD
Thanks again for your help!
I know...a home screen shouldn't make that much difference, but it is really nice to have more space to organize tiles. I LOVE IT. It's breathed new life into my phone.
I love the phone otherwise too. It's a workhorse. I rarely reboot it...something I seemed to be doing all the time with my previous Androids. And the battery lasts all day.
And I have all the apps I need. If I should want an Android one, I have a tablet anyway and will just do it from there.
Glad it worked for you!
