this tax has been for many years a large moral issue for conscientience objectors. Many had stopped paying this tax long ago. The telephone companies were not allowed to disconnect service if they refused to pay but the information would be passed on to the feds.

I keep asking myself why I'm paying taxes--I'm thinking of a protest, something along the lines of "No Taxation Without Representation!" Kinda catchy, ain't it? Since those a-holes who're running this country (straight into the ground) obviously don't have my interests in mind when they make the rules I shouldn't have to finance their little joyrides and proclivities, nor should I be funding their cronies Endless Summer of serfing on the backs of the poor. (Misspelling intentional.)

Apparently not as the tax is still in place.
But I find it funny that Gary is trying to repeal this at the Federal level when there's a California tax on phone service as well that almost was raised back in November. Last I remember, California didn't even have a war to fund.
And them Spanish slugs had it coming. Monroe-Doctrine Baby! Yeah! 😎 And think of all the good things that came out of the Spanish-American War.... Teddy Roosevelt, the Panama Canal, Cuban Independence, The Aircraft Carrier, and America's stuatus as a World power.
