I guess higher prices , less choices , and a duopoly is a good thing. The bigger the company, the better the lobbyist.

Yes it does IT has alot to do with it if they control everything then the small guys can't built up their networks and beat out big blue or red... Are you that much in denial????? If Verizon and ATT Didn't own so much of the airwaves then others would and could offer much better deals and rates than the others..... It is pretty easy to see this I am sorry that you can't.

US Cellular for one. They aren't doing to bad last time I checked and they are not in debt like everyone else ( Not that I am 100% that this info is still accurate ) But whatever I don't have to name anyone there are people with money to do the unthinkable that is if it is made available to them.

Wow ! If they bought something with the intent not to use it are you seriously telling me that could not have related to the death of true unlimited data? They two companies that put the nails in the coffin of unlimited data. Hoarding Spectrum had something to do with losing unlimited data I don't care what all you come up with. ATT Getting more spectrum (They have lots they are sitting on and not using so why do they need more?) Gee i wonder why Big Blue Big Red Swapping something so the little guys can't get a bite at it.... I am sure you won't get it still but then again it's really not surprising

For 1 I'll tell you it doesn't help your argument when you can't explain anything with trying to be insulting or rude. 2nd the fact that they traded at this time has nothing to do with previous swaps or spectrum grabs. Do I like not having unlimited data no but I do see the other side of it as well. Have they hoarded in the past sure, is all of the spectrum they've grabbed before useable absolutely not for alot of reasons. You have to remember though that just because they aren't using them now doesn't mean they won't in the future and while I'm sure that won't satisfy you it is a reasonable response.

Wow you call me out on being rude and you do the same thing kinda kills your point. I don't see the other side of it (Unlimited Data hurting the Company) There is not a reason to explain anymore.. Many people have been trying to do the same thing for the last few years. But people with their head in their rear doesn't help.

Calling you on being rude or insulting isn't kililng my point. And wether or or not you think unlimited data hurts the company thats your opinion in truth it does even if you don't think so. Yes they are huge companies that make a lot of money but they are a business that's what they do. If you don't like it complain to the FCC or your congressmen to stop allowing them to buy more spectrum. Thats more where your issue is than with the companies. Of course they're going to try to maximize their investments and get the most out of what they have.

Yes well thought out responses are babbling I see. So you know these things as facts, then you should have no problem showing and sharing your "facts" and data to back up your claims. Once again you can't make a point or say anything without acting like anyone who disagrees with your opinion is brain dead.

Ok well it hardly helps your case when someone does ask you to show some of that there and all you do is come back like one else has any idea what they are talking about. I work for att and i have verizon for service. I had unlimited data but had to give it up when i moved and changed carriers. Sure it stinks but it's also understandable if you can't think critically about it and be honest from a business perspective.

And all this spectrum lead to the Duopoly... They are holding onto spectrum to prevent other networks from build outs... I mean not enough Spectrum = Bandwidth problems but I guess people can call it what they want... You are correct this is not good for consumers.

I've read the argument to this point and it hasn't been a very good one, as neither of you has done much to support your positions. However, I do agree with you that Verizon and ATT holding the majority of the spectrum is a problem. Yet, I'm torn on the issue because I know they gobbled up the spectrum fair and square in an FCC auction. So, your point that small guys with big bucks aren't being given a chance isn't really true, because they could have bid on the spectrum as well. Furthermore, I'm not really interested in seeing big government push businesses around trying to tell them what's fair and what isn't fair for consumers. I'm not saying they shouldn't bust up monopolies or take steps against businesses with anti-competetive practice...

Other companies bid at the auctions everytime , but the results don't change. AT&T and Verizon.

There's two groups who win these auctions and with the highest bids, are the big two carriers and investors who resell them to the big two carriers. Fair, well, yes. Sprint instead of making spastic moves like Clear and Nextel could have invested better, and T-Mobile could come across with the money instead of keeping it in Europe.

Many here think these auctions are charitable events, the government sells it to the highest bidder. US Cellular as mentioned in a previous post could have bid higher and won. And as far as spectrum holdings, Sprint isn't exactly innocent either.

That's the biggest thing that no one who complains about unlimited data forgets. When unlimited data started most phones didn't use much data. And I'm sorry but if you look into it enough when the iPhone launched all the issues in heavily populated areas it was a mess and that was with just 1 phone using the data. Now your talking about almost all phones doing that if not more, of course theres going to be problems giving unlimited still. I look at about 30 to 40 accts daily and nearly all the accts that still have unlimited data use a gig or less monthly. Sure you get one or 2 here and there that use a ton but they are more the exception than the rule

You do know that the spectrum has nothing to do with unlimited data right? 😲

It doesn't matter how much spectrum any of the companies have they aren't going to give unlimited data to anybody because of how the internet has changed.

Think about it. Home internet services are starting note to have unlimited data anymore and they have plenty of bandwidth. But the internet has changed and the companies know that they can make more money by limiting the amount of data. In the case of home internet companies they don't want you watching videos online they want you to buy cable. In the case of wireless companies they have a finite amount of data and millions of subcribers per area. They want their fast internet to be fast for everybody...

BS I can sum all this up with that word! Le'ts give everyone unlimited data and then over time speed things up and take it away from them. If they could have supported back in the days of slow data they could have kept up and meet with the demand did they chose to ? No I don't care what you say they could do unlimited data still they just can't make as much money off it so they don't care to do it. Being a former sales rep for many cellular companies I can tell you this is all BS! They lie and say the avg consumer uses less than 2 gb of data... HAHA LOL Are you still believing the lies they have brainwashed all koolaid drinkers please wake up. I had fast data when it was unlimited and speed has not gone up one bit since they freed up most of...

Your just bent out of shape over the unlimited data.

Most customers only used less than 2 GB...I know b/c I work in the industry. Very few if any used more than that except "power users"

When smart phones first came out it had internet but the culture was not mainstream as it is today. Before, most people used the internet on a computer. Now...the culture has changed and most people are using laptops and smart phones for internet. When cell phones came out initially they were designed for making phone calls because that was cell-phones are in their name cellular....

Ask your self this.....Would you rather watch a movie on a tablet/laptop....or phone?...

Almost all would say the first one because of the size of the scree...

I dunno how much of the koolaid you have drunk but I know for a fact 9 out of 10 people I pulled up their data when we had switched away from unlimited data and bam more than the 2gb avg. that they try to cram down our throat.....

But when cell phones didn't use data... come on I guess you are Surely a corporate employee that has been sent here to try to stop people like me from making a point....

So sad...... I would rather use my data I pay for it that's why I bought it in the first place and one of the reasons I choose Verizon now if I had of chosen att then I would not be in the boat I am in it's called BS and they are not protecting their investment it is just merely greed.

So...Your using a HDMI cord to watch it on a TV....I think that watching a movie on a much bigger screen than a phone is the point I made earlier.

No I work for an indirect location. Plus ATT has given up as well unlimited Data so you would be in the same boat as Verizon.

All you want to do is make derogatory remarks to people who do not agree with your points. Some people do take a step back and look at information from a business mindset. I have not call you any names just stated an opinion.

If I recall this was about Spectrum not unlimited data.

How hard is that to grasp. I have not called you one name. The remarks haha give me a break. And My argument more spectrum = more bandwidth it's not hard to understand ! No you didn't call him a name its the attitude you give anyone here that disagrees with you here. And I'm sorry you feel betrayed but you entered a contract for 2 years of unlimited data not a lifetime. They are a business not your friend. It sounds to me more like you have unrealistic ideas or thoughts about this than anything else.

The contract is related to the subsidized price the phone was sold for.

There is no 2 year limit on a feature or rate plan.

People who had/have unlimited data on ATT and or Verizon were allowed to keep it after their subsidized phone contract expired.

Verizon stipulated that if you want a new smart phone and unlimited data, they will no longer subsidize the phone.

And that is their right. Also the feature is part of your contract, it's just that they allow you to carry it over as a grandfathered plan. You do not have a lifetime guarantee of unlimited data you just don't.

You are confusing contract with terms of service.
Your contract has zero to do with any rate plans or features.
At one time in the past carriers would extend your 'contract' if you made changes, such as rate plan, to the account.
That is no longer a fact.
All the major carriers have millions of customers who are not in contract.
They are still subject to the terms and conditions of service.
If they don't like the terms of service, they are free to change carriers at any time.
If...

Yes any ETF is related to your contract due to the subsidy of your phone but your contract does invovle your features whether you like it of not. They can be changed at any time without penalty but there is nowhere in yours or anyone elses that says your features are indefinite. If that was the case they could just change it when ever they wanted to in contract or not and you'll be hard pressed to find much evidence of mid contact feature changes forced by a carrier.
