PTT

This will be big if this is released by Cingular. I know ATTWS was testing PTT with the Motorola V400. I work for this company and it will be awesome if this came out. Cingular would be pretty much known as an all in one company! Nextel, Sprint and Verizon are going to have a lot of competition if this is released by Cingular. Time will tell.

Cingular was testing this with moto too. it was supposed to be called a V400p. GSM PTT will never be as strong as nextel's though

This is true, but if Cingular were to work on this and make this a priority, they will come out strong. It will be a long time before they can consider themselves to be the top when it comes to competing with Nextel.

How can you say that they wont be competition for Nextel? How can you say it wont be better than Nextel? Just because Nextel is the PTT Top Dog right now?

Time will tell, make your judegements then, for post as if you're stating an opinion, not a fact. 🙂

nothing is better then nextel on the iden network. cdma wasnt good and same with gprs and wcdma/umts/hsdpa that cingular will be deploying. kodiak is already slow with 2-3 seconds or so, when you put that onto the network it will make those speeds a bit slower. thats the problem with networks that werent made for push to talk like iden was.

Correction. Nothing is better than Nextel on the iDen network now. Get for ready for some real competition in the future.

yea, cingular wont beat out nextel for the top spot. if sprint and verizon cant and they didnt and their network is bigger then nextel's cingular wont do any better either.

its just a waste of money.

Actually, PTT over Cingular's network will be very lucrative.

Yeah, well, we'll see when the largest carrier in North America suddenly offers PTT to its customer base. Along with every other major carrier.

yea that statment is flawed.

why? becuase when verizon came out with push to talk THEY WERE NUMBER 1 TOO. they are still number 2 and they have push to talk out and they are still doing nothing to impact nextel. (same with their launch and their re-launch) same with sprint who is number 3 now, 4 then.

Competition will be fierce among ALL carriers in a very short time. From what I've read, Kokiak is working out just fine with GSM carriers in Europe...something I'm sure Nextel, Verizon, and Sprint did not want to hear. This news points out exactly why Nextel decided to run with Sprint: Nextel's PTT was about to face severe competition for the first tim...

GSM PTT may get better, but Cingular has pushed back it's launch at least a couple times in the past year - hopefully that means the final service will be quality?

As far as the Sprint-Nextel merger goes, I'd wait till Q4 before making any predictions about Sprint, or even Nextel for that matter. Right now there is talk about how Sprint (who isn't the most financially stable cat on the block) is going to pay for all those Nextel shares. The merger hasn't finalized, just approved, so it could still fall through. As far as PTT goes, we'll have to wait and see where that goes. Verizon has also pushed back the re-launch of their PTT as well. First it was slated for Aug of 04, then Feb of 05, and now maybe as late as July or Aug. Yes I know it is available, but they never actually took it off the shelf, just sorta droped the advertising and pushing of it. With both carriers though I think one of the ...

"Right now there is talk about how Sprint (who isn't the most financially stable cat on the block) is going to pay for all those Nextel shares"

you sure? its a merger of equals. they are only paying 2 billion dollars for the $.50 dividend per share. thats not a problem. they will spin off the lec which would give them billions more and unload a lot of debt. there is no problem that is going on with that.

so you shouldnt say things that you dont know.

"The merger hasn't finalized, just approved, so it could still fall through"

actually they filed already with the fcc, and the doj. the expected close is augest of this year but they want it to be earler. this merger will be closed. shareholders are mostly all instutional and mutual ...

"so the merger is about finilized. about to say about the whole shareholder situation and proxy situation. "

it will get approved.
