I don't really understand the functunality of PTT. Isn't it the same as M2M. So it takes an extra 3 seconds to call someone by scrolling through your phonebook. Or if you recently dialed the number press send on your phone and the recent call menu appears. And you wonder why Nextel has never offered free M2M.

No one is that busy that they need an instant connnection.

No one needs that much speed to buy a Ferrari.

No one needs that much luxury to buy a Rolls Royce.

No one needs that stylish form factor to buy a Motorola RAZR.

No one needs that much space to buy a mansion.

I think you get the point.

People will because they can, it's called preference! 😎

Yes, I get the point on preference. The idea of my post was that PTT and M2M are the same thing. One is a little faster than the next. Don't get me wrong....I live in excess as much as the next guy.

lets see you call everyone in your phonebook that has M2M all at the same time to tell them the sme message. You CAN do that with PTT.

So say you had to tell all your 100 workers the same message.... one minute on the phone versus 100.

That is just one example

Get the point now?

nextel doesnt need to offer m2m and it would be not the best idea to do that. why? well becuase direct connect or push to talk is cheap m2m (mins ) are expensive. another thing, m2m takes up a lot of bandwidth that nextel cant spare right now becuase of the rebanding situation and ptt doesnt use as much as the regular mins (m2m).

its like this. why would nextel want to get into a market where they arent even in (with m2m) ? same thing with why cingular wants to get into the ptt industry? why? it doesnt make sense. they are already leading in m2m. its a bad decision in my opinion. if people wanted to switch from nextel, which many people dont, becuase look at their numbers every single quart and year, they would have left already to sprit...
