You can't say Apple started calling it the "App" store before anybody thought of it, that is simply something you can not say. You have no proof of that at all. Applications for commercially available computers have been available since the late 70s, I'm sure during those 42 years, SOMEBODY used the OBVIOUS short-form of Application and called one an App.

They took an already existing word, used the short form, and then added the word Store after it. That's all they did. There was no huge creativity here. They used a short word, and put the word store after it.
