Re: Got cores?
This...which is widely known as 'the megahertz myth' in tech circles is....to put it bluntly... a bunch of..crap...
It is not even close to being true that the only measure, or even the best measure, of a computer's speed is the number of megahertz of its processor...
In fact....if its often the cast that a computer with fewer megahertz is actually faster than one with more megahertz....
The manufacturers pushed the 'megahertz' as a marketing ploy, not because it's actually a good measure to use, but because counting the number of megahertz is easy for people to understand, while the actual measures used by computer scientists to measure the speed of a computer are too complicated for average consumers to understand.
And....what has happened since then? Megahertz became Gigahertz, and the number of Gigahertz has basically been tapped out, and manufacturers don't tout the number anymore.
In 2007, I bought a Sony Vaio laptop, it has a 2.2 GHZ processor. In 2011, I bought an Asus laptop.....it had a 2.4 GHZ processor, barely a difference.
