Tell that to Samsung, who recently slid back into third place in worldwide sales due to a resurgent Motorola.

It's gotta be the name.....

"Motorola" just sounds good.... powerful... stylish..... familiar....

"Samsung".... Yeah, I don't know where they're going with that one.... Almost as bad as "Lucky Goldstar"..... (just got educated on that one the other day...)

Is that Motorala? Or could it be Cingular? I'm asking an honest question here. My store sell both T-Mobile and Cingular. Some of the Motos we offer are pretty buggy, but there are also a number of them that do not seem to have any sort of major issues at all.

Just my 2 cents Lucky Goldstar was formed by the combination of two companies. Remember GOldstar electronics from 80-90's era. They merged with the chemical company Lucky to create LG hence Lucky Goldstar.

Something sounds wrong about that because LG stands for Life's Good. 😕

I think that's their advertising tagline. If you google LG, you'll find a lot of Lucky Goldstar references. Who knows.

It was Lucky Goldstar at first, then it was shortened to LG. They are using the Life's Good tagline for advertising purposes.

Actually Siemens' handsets are well designed, well built pieces of hardware. At one time they were the apple of Europe's eye. I honestly think they've lost their market share due to stodgy design practices...and hip counts for a lot in today's marketplace. I can honestly see them getting bought out by or joining forces with an Asian handset maker...it'll help them expand their presence in new markets.

Isn't a shame that trouble-shooting doesn't involve fire-arms? 😎

I agree. People tend to sensationalize many phones due to large responses. He may have had a large call volume regarding this phone from a major shipment. For all we know, they could have sent over a shipment containing 5000 phones with defective screens, keypads, features etc. It has been known to happen.

I recently had a customer who told me that he realized that Siemens was a bad brand because he had some difficulties with his phone and someone he knew also had difficulties with theirs, and in his experience when two people both have problems with a product, that means that it is an inferior product!

I've had very few returns on Siemens phones (almost all of ours are Motorolas), and have also dealt with them directly on a few occasions. Their reps were extremely punctual, knowledgeable and very helpful. I think that overall they are a very good company. Their phones just aren't particularly stylish or cute, and that seems to be what a lot of people want.

Also, I think judging a company based off of returns can be deceiving. Peop...

I think it goes with the market as well. In the STL area, Moto's and LG's perform superior to any other phone (on the verizon side of things). The nokias we sell are just junk, but people in different geographic areas say the complete opposite. As for cute and cuddly, why the hell do I need a cute and cuddly phone? I'd rather have something look bland (that a faceplate can easily fix) that works like a charm, than something "cute". Personally i'm tired of the asian market setting all the "trends". I know that there's basically no such thing as a US manufacturer, but I'd like to see what would happen in terms of design if a US design team were to create a phone for say Samsung or Moto. Just my .02
