the vx9800 is most definitely CDMA. although i mentioned it was EV-DO in the original text, i have now added cdma to the text to further clarify this. it is also most likely meant for verizon, as lg models for them start with VX, however verizon has not confirmed this.

as far as how verizon might limit this handset, there was no mention of bluetooth in users manual, so they can't ask LG to limit it if it's not there in the first place. Most likely if verizon does choose to limit features on this phone, it will be with regards to the mini SD slot. chances are you will not be able to save your photos or other content to a card, instead you will probably have to send them using Verizon's pix service to get them off the phone.

Well, another Verizon phone with removable memory(Moto V710)does not limit that feature. I would hope VZW would stick the the game plan and not limit it on this phone either. Unless a software update has come out recently which blocks the user from saving photos to the TransFlash card, then it is still an option. At least our phones in our store allow it.

If VZW were to come out with a software upd...

as a matter of fact i just read in info center last night that they have in fact come out with a software upgrade for the v710. Which it blocks the ability to take an mp3 from the memory card and store it on the phone. Which means you wouldn't be able to set it as your ring tone i would assume that this would be the same with other types of media Ex. pictures.

i love verizons service but they can be a pain about some stuff but they are in this business to make money not lose money so i don't blame them.

The software update limits your ability to transfer the mp3 to the fon, not to use it as a ringtone. as long as you keep the card in the fon, you can use mp3s as ringtones.

Other Motorola models can't use ringtones from the memory card, i'm assuming the V710 is the same? 😕

That's Correct. You can't use the mp3s as ringtones off the memory card. You can only listen to them on the phone as an "mp3 player". The only transferability allowed with the latest software is pictures to and from the memory card.
