It may be
A phone like this should retail at about $200-$250 because it lacks high end specs and features.
For me at least it would be nice to have a phone with such a large screen, being affordable and functional.
I do not live at the U.S. but my phone allows me to detach myself from my computer without loosing a business opportunity (I bet you can't guess how low is the amount that I pay for 1.4GB of data a month on a prepaid service).
I need to move a lot in order to keep myself on the business and certainly anybody is prone to get robed out there in the street. I can't imagine myself loosing a $600+ high-end smart-phone just because a guy wanted to buy some crack... (I've never been robed though)
I like big screened devices because I use a lot of email and check office documents on my phone. My old Desire HD (Inspire 4g) still joins me in almost all of my businesses.
A big screened device with Android 4+, dual core processor and a fair amount of RAM; that's not high-end priced is a very welcome update for me.
