Sorry I was not clear - for a BRAND NEW account, yes, you would still require a 2 year contract. If you already have an existing account, and pay full price or bring your own, no contract is required.

The reason for the 2 year contract is becuase this is not a prepaid line of service, the customer is provided with all the perks of a full postpaid account for a very low price. (Minus subsidized handset)
