Personally out of all the outcomes I hope it is the 3rd. If MS buys them then there goes all the other non-Windows Phone handsets (feature phones). If they are strapped for cash then it won't be long until they sink like the RMS Titanic and be picked apart by other companies or MS buys them for ROCK bottom prices.
I agree with everything you say, since Nokia outside of cheap 3rd world sales has no intentions at present of doing anything else but Windows Phone, Not sure if MSFT truly wants to own them outright, maybe partially owned at the most. And this could be for various reasons. HTC seems intent on supporting WP, and I doubt they want to torpedo their support.
Moving would be good, and I don't mean this as the US is great and all others aren't, because I know this is what people will say about my statement, and it isn't meant to be that way.
